Why Is LCP Injection Molding Used for Miniature Connectors — and What Makes It Difficult?
LCP (liquid crystal polymer) is the resin that fills walls thinner than 0.2 mm, holds tolerances tighter than 0.02 mm on sub-gram parts, and survives 260 °C reflow soldering without deforming. Nothing else in the resin catalog can do all three — which is why LCP dominates connectors, micro-switches, and semiconductor packaging, and why it is also one of the most unforgiving resins to mold.
