What Is an Anti-Rotation Boss — and When Does Your Assembly Need One?
An anti-rotation boss is a molded feature that mechanically prevents a part from spinning on its mounting point — typically a flat, a key tab, or a non-round profile added to a circular boss — and your assembly needs one whenever a single fastener or friction fit is the only thing stopping rotation. It is one of the least expensive features to mold in and one of the most expensive to retrofit, which is exactly why it belongs in the DFM conversation before the steel is cut.
Parting line — The line where the two mold halves (A-side and B-side) meet. Parting line location affects: gate placement, ejector pin marks, witness lines, and cosmetic appearance. A well-designed parting line minimizes visible witness marks. See also related guide.
